Mexico arrived at the Azteca needing a win and made it look comfortable once they got going. The first half was tight — Visinsky had Mexico's back line worried with a blocked drive in the 27th — but the Mexicans had the better of it. Mateo Chávez, the left back, broke the deadlock in the 55th. Quiñones made it two six minutes later, running onto Sánchez's break and finishing from close range. Edson Álvarez picked up an unnecessary yellow in the 64th. Czechia threw on Schick and Souček but couldn't unlock Mexico's defense. Fidalgo, fresh off the bench, sealed it deep in stoppage time. Mexico win all three group games, nine points, clean sheet through the entire group stage. Czechia are eliminated.
