Match Report

Ghana had the perfect gameplan and executed it brilliantly. Sit deep, stay organized, and trust Benjamin Asare to keep England out — which he did, three times on shots that should have gone in. The same backup keeper who herooed against Panama showed up again: he pushed Gordon's close-range effort to safety in the 57th, got down low to deny Kane from outside the box in the 69th, and turned Saka's low drive to the corner in the 86th. England had chances in waves — Anderson twice, Bellingham, Kane, and a string of blocked efforts from Rice, Madueke and Guéhi — but couldn't find the net. Partey, Opoku and Adjetey did their part in front of Asare, blocking everything that got through. Rice picked up a yellow in the 41st. Iñaki Williams got one for Ghana in the 60th and was taken off six minutes later. England threw on Saka, Rogers, Eze and Rashford and it still wasn't enough. Both teams leave Boston level on four points, with Croatia and Panama needing a miracle in matchday three.
