Senegal looked the more dangerous side early — Jackson rattled the post in the 25th, and Mendy had to deal with Mané, Olise and Mbappé all forcing him into sharp saves through the first hour. France finally broke through in the 66th: Olise slid Mbappé in for a clean finish. A VAR check waved off a penalty for France minutes earlier, so the goal felt overdue. Barcola, on as a sub, doubled the lead in the 82nd on a fast break finished low into the corner. Senegal got one back in injury time through fresh sub Ibrahim Mbaye, also off a counter, but Mbappé settled it seconds later with his second of the night from outside the box. Mendy made five saves to keep it scoreless as long as he did, but France's depth off the bench made the difference late.
