USA got the perfect start — Auston Trusty headed home from a set piece in the 3rd to give the U.S. the early lead at SoFi. Turkey didn't panic. Arda Güler equalized in the 10th with a composed finish, and Baris Alper Yilmaz put them ahead in the 31st. That was the halftime scoreline despite USA dominating possession (52.5%), shots (18-9), and corners (9-2). Sebastian Berhalter picked up a yellow in the 19th and then made it count in the 49th, equalizing with a finish that leveled things at 2-2. Pulisic came on in the 58th. Both teams pushed late — Dest, Zendejas, and Freeman all on for the U.S., Söyüncü and Can Uzun for Turkey. Then in the 88th minute Turkey sent on Kaan Ayhan. Two minutes of stoppage time later, Ayhan met a cross and buried it in the 90'+8' — winner, three minutes after arriving off the bench. USA had more of everything and still lost. Turkey are eliminated despite the win — they finish fourth in Group D on three points. USA advance as group winners.
