South Africa's Ronwen Williams was the story for 90 minutes — a Cornelius header saved in the 22nd, corners cleared on the half-hour, a first half that ended goalless despite Canada's best efforts. The second half brought more of the same: Eustáquio took a knock midway through, Canada reshuffled, and South Africa looked increasingly comfortable holding the line. Then the 90th minute arrived. Eustáquio, back on and clearly not 100%, found space in the box and met a loose ball with a volley that left Williams no chance. It was the only shot Canada needed to get through.
